The Garden Lodge

The Garden Lodge is located in the small town of Kasane, on the Chobe River in Northern Botswana. The lodge is five minutes by boat from the Chobe National Park and approximately eight minutes by vehicle.

This boutique lodge is highly appreciated in the Kasane area as, while most lodges have hundreds of rooms and guests, The Garden Lodge has only 8 rooms. They are decorated with with teak and mukwa furniture, and all rooms have a private verandah overlooking the Chobe River. Depending on the guests’ preferences, beds can be made up as two singles or one king size double. Bathrooms are en-suite with spacious showers, and supplied with all the toiletries you need, including a hairdryer. All rooms offer a coffee and tea making facility, a ceiling fan, air conditioning, mosquito nets over the beds and mosquito protection in the windows.

The common parts include a thatched roof that is open to the swimming pool and the garden. There is an upstairs lounge overlooking the river, as well as a boma under a shady acacia tree where guests may have afternoon tea.

Breakfast is a continental buffet with the option of a cooked breakfast. Lunches are buffet-style with a variety of salads, warm dishes, cheeses and cold meats. Dinner is a 3-course set menu.

Between the lodge and riverfront is a lawn area with shady indigenous trees. Warthog, mongoose, monitor lizards and other small animals are often seen on the lawn. The trees, shrubs and ornamental plants attract a wide variety of birds. Whilst relaxing on the verandah, it is possible to record over 50 different species of birds. The lodge has a resident pair of barn owls who have nested in the roof of the lodge every year, for the past 15 years, they are often seen at night perched in the trees looking at the guests.
