Kenya

Kenya, with its surface area of 580,000 sqkm across the equator line, is naturally associated with wildlife and safaris. This country has a very high diversity of ecosystems ranging from the fertile highlands bisected by the Great Rift Valley in the west, to the semi-arid regions in the north, to several mountain ranges reaching up to 5,199 m altitude (the second highest peak in the continent), and to a tropical coastline bordering the Indian Ocean in the east.

Kenya has a significant part of its land devoted to wildlife. It is, with Tanzania, where the Great Migration, one of the world’s most spectacular wildlife shows – an extraordinary annual migration of two million wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes – as well as the famous « Big Five » may be observed.

The national parks, as well as the private conservancies, with their remarkable successes in protecting endangered species such as rhinos, Grevy zebras, etc, are only one aspect of the touristic offering of this country. Traditional tribes, walking safaris and relaxing on the beaches of the Indian Ocean can be part of the discovery of this fascinating country.
